Pride Budapest, Forza Italia: "Civil rights are a value to be defended, no one should be discriminated against. We are distant from Orban"
" Forza Italia has always stood out for its liberal battles and we are absolutely convinced that civil rights are a value to be defended , which is also fully included in our values of good Europeanism. Forza Italia and President Berlusconi have always given freedom of conscience on all these issues". With these words Alessandro Cattaneo, head of Departments of Forza Italia , interviewed by Affaritaliani.it , comments on the Pride that is being held today in Budapest, the Pride is being held despite the ban by the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban and in which Elly Schlein, Carlo Calenda and a delegation of the M5S are participating. "We believe, interpreting the feelings of the majority of Italians, that there should be no discrimination, there should be no minorities who suffer attitudes of denunciation or marginalization . This is absolutely necessary".
"We are a bit surprised - adds the representative of the blue party - by the fact that the left continually makes it an element of identity but not only, also of opposition and puts it at the top as an absolute priority. It is certainly a fundamental issue, but the instrumentalization that the left often makes I believe is wrong, misleading and that even the majority of citizens do not understand it . Italians are a people who know how to respect and integrate. As for the controversy with Hungary, even if we are distant from Orban who has now left the EPP for many years and we believe that free demonstrations are right, with all the priority issues that there are in the world, crises and difficulties, the fact that the leaders of the left see the square of Budapest as a priority is their business. But we believe that even in this case it is an instrumentalization for those who are unable to give answers to their real internal problems and are unable to be credible. As for the allies - commenting on the ironic joke of the Lega Vannacci about sending those who participate in the Pride to fight in Ukraine -, each of us has his own sensitivities, among allies I am for not creating controversy and therefore I am proud of Forza Italia's positions and we continue on our path ", concludes Cattaneo.
